Bus-Tanker collision kills 20 people in E. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- At least 20 people were killed and six others received injuries when a passenger bus collided with an oil tanker on the Pakistani’s eastern Multan-Sukkur Motorway on Tuesday, said officials.
A senior administrative official of Multan city, Deputy Commissioner Tahir Wattoo in a statement confirmed the death toll saying that the passenger bus hit the oil tanker carrying petrol from the rear side at Jalalpur Peerwala interchange on the motorway. A fire erupted after the collision killing at least 20 people and wounding six others.
The passenger bus was travelling from Lahore to Karachi city. Medical superintendent at the government Hospital Multan, Dr Amjad Chandio told media that four of the injured are in critical condition and were shifted to the facility’s burns unit.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and prayed for the deceased and their families. Chief Minister of Punjab province, Pervez Elahi expressed grief over the lives lost in the accident and sought a report on the incident from the Multan commissioner. (end) sbk
