Floods, heavy rainfall in Sudan cause casualties, destruction

KHARTOUM, Aug 13 (KUNA) -- Floods and heavy rainfall in various regions of Sudan had caused the death of 52 people, the injury of 25 others, and the destruction of houses and property, said a statement by the authorities Saturday.
A statement by the national civil defense council revealed that thousands of houses were either completely wipeout or partially destroyed along the states of the River Nile, south Kordofan, and east Darfur.
Destruction was extended to 55 properties and shops in addition to huge mass croplands. (end) mam.gta
