Italian PM expresses solidarity with France against wildfire

ROME, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday to affirm that his country stands by France in the face of the raging wildfire.
The conversation focused on the contributions of Italy and other European countries to the efforts of the French firefighters, the Italian news agency (ANSA) reported, citing readout of the call released by Chigi Palace.
The Prime Minister noted that two firefighting aircraft, of the Canadair type, would head for France shortly to take part in the battle against the fire in the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. (end) mn.gb
