Russian forces destroyed more than 267 Ukrainian warplanes since February - spokesman

MOSCOW, Aug 11 (KUNA) -- Russian forces have destroyed 267 Ukrainian warplanes since the start of the special military operation last February, said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov Thursday.
In a statement, Konashenkov noted that the Russian forces also shot down 146 helicopters and 1,727 drones, destroyed 365 missile systems, 4,287 tanks, 797 heavy launch systems, 3,290 cannons, and 4,820 various Ukrainian military vehicles.
He pointed out that, during the past 24 hours, the Russian forces had shot down a MiG-24 warplane, in addition to three Grad missile systems and seven war marches.
Meanwhile, during a press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry Acting Spokesman Ivan Nechaev described the Ukrainian forces' bombing of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station as a "terrorist act", warning that this matter could lead to a catastrophe whose consequences would outweigh the explosion of the atomic power station in Chornobyl.
The UN Security Council will hold a special session later today to discuss the repercussions of this incident, he added. (end) as.aa
