Suicide attack kills 4 soldiers in N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 9 (KUNA) - At least four soldiers were killed in a suicide blast targeting a military convoy on Tuesday in North Waziristan tribal district of Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan.
According to Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), four soldiers were killed in a suicide blast at a military convoy in the Mir Ali area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district.
It further said, "Intelligence agencies have commenced investigations to find out details about the suicide bomber who carried out the attack and his handlers and facilitators." The "Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers will not go unpunished," said ISPR.
President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi has condemned the attack and expressed grief over the martyrdom of Pakistan Army soldiers.
A statement by the President Office said, "Such cowardly attacks cannot weaken our resolve to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism and all its manifestations." Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the incident, saying that the entire nation was sad at the soldiers' martyrdom.
North Waziristan is one of the seven tribal districts bordering Afghanistan which was merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after a massive military operation conducted against the foreign and local militants present in the area. (end) sbk.aa
