Iran launches satellite into space from station in Kazakhstan

TEHRAN, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- Iran launched on Tuesday the Khayyam satellite into space from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan, in cooperation with Russia.
Iranian state television broadcasted the scenes of the launch of this satellite, which will work to improve agricultural productivity, monitoring water sources and natural disaster management.
The Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Issa Zarepour announced earlier that Khayyam would be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan into an orbit of 500 kilometers above the Earth. (end) mu.lr
