AMMAN, Aug 8 (KUNA) -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak said on Monday that his country has been engaged in confrontations for nearly eight years to restore the state and end the coup targeting the Arabism of Yemen.
In a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi after a meeting that included the two sides, he expressed hope that the truce, which was renewed for the third time, will be used as an opportunity to restore stability in the country.
He pointed to the possibility of benefiting from the truce to calm the military front and to complete lack of commitment to the provision of opening roads to the besieged cities.
The two sides signed a protocol regarding political cooperation to deepen research on regional issues, including facilitating the arrival of Yemenis to Jordan.
They also tackled the Palestinian issue, including the calm and respect for the armistice reached by the Palestinian side with the Israeli occupation.
The Jordanian minister affirmed that his country continue to support legitimacy in Yemen and that a political solution is the only way to restore security and stability, expressing his hope that the truce will be a step towards reaching a full political agreement.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad is on an official three-day visit to Jordan, during which he will hold talks with senior officials, parliamentarians, dignitaries and a number of media outlets. (end) ab.gaa
