Palestinians blast Israeli settlers' plan to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque

RAMALLAH, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- The Palestinians on Thursday condemned a plan by some 3,000 Israeli settlers to storm Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque next week, slamming the move as an attempt to alter the landscape of the holy compound.
Israeli forces are adamant about enforcing a "new status quo" in the holy city of Jerusalem, said Mahmoud Al-Habash, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' special advisor on religious affairs.
He urged the international community to intervene and stop the efforts of Israeli radical groups to wage a "religious war" on Al-Aqsa mosque, ahead of a plan by right-wing Israeli settlers to carry out mass raids of Al-Aqsa Mosque next week. (end) nq.nam
