German exports up in H1-'22 despite Ukraine war

BERLIN, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- German exports increased by 13 percent in the first half of 2022 when compared to last year despite the ongoing war in the Ukraine and other international crises, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Wednesday.
The office said in a report that German companies exports from the start of January until the end of last May amounted to 754 billion euros (around USD 766 billion).
Exports to the US market in the specified period reached 134 billion euros (around USD 136 billion), an increased by 18.4 percent, revealed the office.
It noted that exports to Russia in the same period, and despite the ongoing war in the Ukraine, had increased by 14.5 percent, which amounted to 1.2 billion euros (approximately USD 1.3 billion).
Imports in the first half of the year had reached 26.2 percent, amounting to 722 billion euros (around USD 733 billion) and that came due an increase in energy products namely gas and crude oil, said the office. (end) anj.gta
