Russian, Chinese FMs discuss developments in Central Asia

MOSCOW, July 28 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi explored on Thursday the latest development in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Lavrov and Wang Yi discussed on the sidelines of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Uzbekistan Capital Tashkent, the latest updates on the situation in Ukraine.
The statement added that both sides discussed the current state of the Russian-Chinese relations that continue developing dynamically amid the uneasy geopolitical situation.
They also stressed SCO's leading role in building regional security architecture and noted the organization's substantial constructive contribution to the process of maintaining peace and stability and ensuring economic development in Eurasia.
The SCO, established in 2001, currently comprises eight Member States China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. (end) as.ahm
