BAGHDAD, July 27 (KUNA) -- Demonstrators on Wednesday withdrew from the Green Zone, which has a large diplomatic mission and government office presence, hours after storming the heavily fortified area in response to calls from Sadrist movement leader, Muqtada Al-Sadr.
A tweet by the influential cleric asked the protesters to pull back and return to their homes after they had occupied the parliament building, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
The act was carried out in indefiance of the candidacy of Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, a former labour minister, for prime minister. (pick up previous)
