Russia's Gazprom cuts gas supply to Europe by 20 pct

MOSCOW, July 27 (KUNA) - Russia's Gazprom has drastically cut gas deliveries to Europe through the Nord Stream pipeline to about 20 percent of its capacity, the company's Deputy Chief, Vitaly Markelov announced Wednesday.
Russia's Tass news agency quoted Markelov as saying that "Siemens, which supervises the repair of gas turbines, has not delivered to Russia one of the engines that were repaired due to the sanctions imposed on Russia." He noted that pumping gas into the Nord Stream requires six working engines, adding that only one engine is working at the moment.
The reduction of the Russian gas production to Europe led to an unprecedented rise in its prices, reaching USD 2,300 per thousand cubic meters of gas. (end) as.aa
