Missile attack reportedly targets Turkish consulate in Iraq's Mosul

IRBIL, July 27 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Consulate in Mosul said it was targeted by a missile attack early Wednesday, with no casualties or damage.
In a press statement, the consulate said Consul Mohammad Kojuk and other Turkish diplomat are safe and sound following the attack on the building, in which four mortar missiles were used.
A group calling itself "Ababil Brigades" has claimed responsibility for targeting the Turkish consulate in Mosul.
The missile attack comes as the Iraqi government claimed that Turkey was responsible for artillery strikes that killed at least eight people and wounded some 23 others in a resort area in Zakho District, Duhok Governorate.
However, Turkey denied any link to the attack and vowed to work with Iraqi authorities over an investigation into the incident, which sparked wide-scale regional and international condemnations. (end) sbr.mt
