Japan win 2022 Asian Men's Junior Handball Ch'ship

KUWAIT, July 24 (KUNA) -- Japan won the AHF Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship for the first time, edging host nation Bahrain in a 24-20 final on Sunday.
The achievement in the 17th edition of the U21s tournament follows a third place finish for Kuwait.
Kuwait earlier beat Saudi Arabia in a 27-21 face-off for the third and fourth spots.
All four youth squads will head to the IHF Men's Junior World Handball Championship, co-hosted by Greece and Germany in 2023, after qualification by virtue of their final standings.
Kuwait and Qatar are the most successful sides in the tournament, which was launched in 1988, with five championships apiece. (end) sad.sd
