Arab League worried about Libyan factional clashes

CAIRO, July 24 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit expressed worries over the armed clashes among Libyan rival factions in Tripoli and Misrata in the past two days where civilian casualties fell.
Abul-Gheit believes that resort to arms is appropriate and unacceptable whatever the justifications and circumstances might be, a statement from the League said Sunday.
He urged the Libyan authorities to take control of the situation and restore calm as soon as possible.
The League chief also called on all political actors to uphold their responsibility of uniting the nation, starting with reunification of the military and security forces, which is vital to restoring stability. (end) mfm.asm.maa.aq
