KUWAIT, July 20 (KUNA) --
1961 -- The Arab League approved membership of the State of Kuwait, which should pull out, as soon as possible, the British forces that were deployed following the dispute with Iraq's Abdulkareem Qassem. The Arab League decided to help Kuwait join the United Nations and contribute to independence of Kuwait.
1987 -- Kuwait Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah said leasing oil tankers and registering Kuwaiti tankers in friendly countries was due to recurring attacks on Kuwaiti vessels during the Iran-Iraq war. He said the attacks jeopardized Kuwaiti oil exports.
2013 -- Kuwait Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) won two international awards in geographical information systems.
2017 -- State of Kuwait lowered number of diplomats of the Iranian embassy, closed affiliate technical bureaus, suspended any activity within joint commissions in the aftermath of a court rule regarding what is known as Al-Abdali cell.
2017 -- State of Kuwait addressed an official complaint to the Lebanese Government urging it to shoulder its responsibilities regarding irresponsible practices by Hezbollah. A court rule in Kuwait affirmed that Hezbollah had had a hand in Al-Abdali cell. (end) bs
