Blinken meets with Transatlantic Quad FMs in Bali

WASHINGTON, July 8 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Friday with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and UK Second Permanent Undersecretary and Political Director Tim Barrow on the sidelines of the G20 Ministerial in Bali. State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said in a statement that they discussed "joint efforts to provide Ukraine with additional security and humanitarian support as it continues to defend against Russia's unprovoked and unjustifiable war of choice." They also "reviewed ways to address the global food security concerns that have resulted from Russia's deliberate targeting of Ukrainian agriculture." Furthermore, "they expressed concern about the pace of developments in Iran's nuclear program and reiterated their commitment to a mutual return to full compliance with the JCPOA, calling on Iran to drop its extraneous demands and to quickly agree to the deal that is currently available." Meanwhile, Blinken tweeted that during the G20, he had "productive discussions on the global food security crisis." "The US will continue to work with other partners and allies to respond to the challenges facing the global economy," he added.
In a separate tweet, Blinken said, "We are committed to working through multilateral organizations to advance shared interests while countering global economic instability and food and energy insecurity, which have been exacerbated by Russia's continued aggression in Ukraine."(end) si.gb
