Islamic World heritage cmte meeting kicks off with Kuwait presiding

RABAT, July 4 (KUNA) -- The work of the 10th meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee started Monday at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Rabat, headed by Dr. Walid Al-Seif, representing the State of Kuwait, with the participation of member states in the committee.
In a speech on the occasion, ISESCO Director-General Dr. Salim Al-Malik stressed that valuing and protecting the heritage of the Islamic world is at the forefront of priorities of the new vision and strategic directions of (ISESCO), focusing on the special care that the organization gives to training, training and capacity building of heritage workers and cooperation with Member States in this matter.
He praised the committee's work during the past three years and its registration of more than 350 historical sites and cultural elements on the Islamic World Heritage List, wishing it success at its current meeting.
For his part, the head of the Islamic World Heritage Committee thanked the Director General of ISESCO for the care and support the committee received, stressing that it will play its role in promoting the new vision of ISESCO by documenting and recording the heritage of the Islamic world.
Over the course of two days, the committee will focus on a number of reports on the achievements of the committee and the vision of the ISESCO Center for Heritage in the Islamic World, in addition to discussing issues related to heritage sites, monuments and cultural elements submitted for registration on the list of heritage in the Islamic world.
