Mali summons Spanish ambassador, rejects FM statements

ALGIERS, July 3 (KUNA) -- The Malian government summoned on Sunday the Spanish Ambassador to protest against the statements of the Spanish foreign minister Jose Albares about the intervention of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the country.
"The Spanish ambassador was summoned to the headquarters of the Foreign Affairs to inform him of a strong protest against Jose Albares' statements", Mali's Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop said in a statement to state television, stressing his country's rejection of these statements.
He also described Albares statements as "dangerous" because they tend to encourage aggression against a sovereign and independent country. (end) mr.gaa
