Cyprus names Kuwaiti amb. diplomatic personality of 2022

BEIRUT, July 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Cyprus Waleed Al-Kandari was declared the winner of the prize of the diplomatic personality of 2022 in Cyprus.
Al-Kandari was handed the prize at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace and organized by the Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Cypriot Foreign Ministry, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Nicosia announced in a press statement on Friday.
The ceremony was attended by Cypriot Parliament Speaker and Acting President Annita Demetriou, several ministers and a large number of foreign diplomats, added the statement.
Addressing the audience, Permanent Secretary of the Cypriot Foreign Ministry Kornelios S. Korneliou spoke highly about the great efforts exerted by Ambassador Al-Kandari in the past few years to bolster bilateral relations.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Kandari affirmed that relations between Kuwait and Cyprus were rapidly developing in the past years. He noted that the two countries had recently signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding for cooperation in a variety of domains.
He suggested that Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah's visit to Cyprus early this year had ushered in a new era of mutually-beneficial cooperation between the two friendly countries. (end) ayb.rg.ibi
