ISTANBUL, July 1 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that his country, which is a NATO member, commits to a balanced policy in its relations with Russia.
He was quoted by Anadolu news agency as telling reporters that Turkiye is maintaining a "balanced policy" in relations with Russia and Ukraine, as it does not want any harm to its "diplomatic traffic".
Erdogan added that Tأ¼rkiye has ties with Russia and receives almost 40 percent of its natural gas from Russia.
"On the other hand, we are currently working on nuclear energy, Akkuyu Power Plant. The foundation for the fourth part will be laid in a few months, perhaps in July," he said.
Apart from energy, Turkiye and Russia also work together in the defense industry, the Turkish president pointed out. (end) wa.mt
