KUWAIT, July 1 (KUNA) --

1948 -- First issue of the monthly Kathma magazine was out, the first to be published in Kuwait.
1961 -- Late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah agrees to resort to the Kuwaiti-British agreement, stipulating that London would support Kuwait in face of external aggression, upon request. This came after reports of suspicious Iraqi military movements. British soldiers were then stationed on Kuwaiti-Iraqi border.
1968 - Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah agreed on an Arab cooperation deal regarding peaceful nuclear energy.
1974 -- The Amir Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed Decree-law 15/74 to establish the Public Authority for Housing Welfare.
1974 -- Franchise fees of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) increased from 12.5 to 14.5 percent with income tax rating remaining at 55 percent from disbursement of returns.
1979 -- Civil services laws are applied in Kuwait with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) setting regulations for administrative work at government entities.
1981 -- Kuwait joined the International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties of 1969 and the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage of 1971.
1995 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a law 26/1995 allowing the establishment of a free trade zone in Kuwait.
1997 -- Kuwait Customs applied taxes on all types of cigarettes and imported tobacco.
2001 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed Law 44/2001 over Kuwait's ratification of the joint GCC Defense Treaty.
2006 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish the national security college for the Interior Ministry, a body tasked with preparing and training leading staff at the ministry.
2009 -- National Assembly renewed confidence in Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah after 30 MPs voted against the motion of no confidence.
2010 -- Fruits and Vegetables Market (Furdha) was established in Al-Sulaibia area.
2013 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Sudan signed a loan agreement worth KD 25 million (around USD 85 million) to fund an irrigation project in southern Sudan.
2014 -- Ministry of Social Affairs came up with a ministerial decree establishing the Kuwaiti creative society for people with special needs.
2016 -- The Ministry of Electricity and Water won the - The Ministry of Electricity and Water has been offered the Special Achievement in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Award for 2016 by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) - USA during the ESRI annual conference in San Diego, California 2019 -- Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) signed an offshore drilling contract with Halliburton International worth KD 181 million.
