Iraq's Kurdistan Region appeals for help against recurring missile attacks

IRBIL, June 27 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister of Iraq's Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani on Monday called upon the international community and "international partners" to intervene and halt recurring "terrorist attacks" on the northern area.
Barzani in a statement said that he had contacted Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi, requesting formation of a joint force from the local Kurdish squad, the Pashmerga, and the government troops "to fill any void in disputed areas where outlawed groups have been active and trying to destibilize the whole nation, recklessly." These recurring attacks threaten Iraq's stability and poison "the investment atmosphere," he said, pledging to defend the country's oil and gas facilities.
Earlier, the Kurdish region's anti-terrorism squad said in a statement that six missiles targeted a gas field in northern Iraq, a few days ago.
The UAE company, Dana, that runs the targeted field, said in a statement that two missiles crashed into Khor Mor gas concessions' location in Al-Sulaimaniah but caused no injuries or stoppage of the operations.
There have been several missile attacks targeting sensitive locations in northern Iraq, recently. (end) sbr.rk
