Turkish Pres., Swedish PM discuss Sweden's bid for NATO membership

ISTANBUL, June 25 (KUNA) -- Tأ¼rkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed Ankara's demands for Stockholm to change course on the PKK group to get Ankara's support for its bid for NATO membership.
"Stockholm needed to change its attitude on the PKK terror group and its Syrian branch, the YPG," Erdogan said in a phone call with Sweden's Premier Magdalena Andersson on Saturday, according to a statement by the Turkish Directorate of Communications.
He also demanded Stockholm to lift its arms embargo, as well as its legal and actual restrictions on the Turkish defense industry.
Tأ¼rkiye also wants Sweden to fulfill its demands on extradition and deportation, he added.
The Turkish leader laid it bare that Tأ¼rkiye hoped to see binding commitments on all these issues, with concrete and clear implementation. (end) ta.rg.ibi
