Al-Hajraf: GCC countries keen to help refugees according to humanitarian principles

RIYAHD, June 20 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf stressed Monday that the GCC countries are always keen to rescue and help refugees according to humanitarian principles sanctioned by the relevant international conventions and treaties.
This came in a press statement issued by the GCC General Secretariat on the occasion of the International Refugees Day.
Al-Hajraf said that this year celebration is entitled (The right to seek safety) calling on the international community to cooperate to protect refugees in all parts of the world and ease off their suffering due to wars, violence, persecution and disasters He stressed that they can only be helped by unity, solidarity and in a manner that preserves their dignity and rights.
He noted that the Gulf countries have their firm positions to provide health social, food, and relief care for refugees all around the world, through efforts made by the GCC's states with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
He expresses his concerns over the increase in the number of refugees around the world, and confirmed the sympathies of the Gulf States and their continues support for any step that can alleviate the suffering of refugees and help them to live a decent life.
