Germany: 368 mln euro worth of licensed weapons to Ukraine

BERLIN, June 13 (KUNA) -- The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action affirmed, Monday, that since the start of the military operation in Ukraine on February 24, the Berlin government has licensed weapons worth 350 million euros (USD 368 million) for the Ukrainian Army.
The German government had licensed, between February 24 - June 1st, military weapons worth 220 million euros (USD 231 million), light military equipment such as helmets worth 85 million euros (USD 89 million), and different other equipment valued 45 million euros. (USD 47 million), said the ministry in response to the Left Party.
The German government had decided two days after the start of the military operation in Ukraine to provide Ukraine with weapons, which was considered a violation of one of the taboos of the German foreign policy, that prohibits, according to the constitution, sending weapons to crisis areas.
According to several decisions taken by the German parliament in this regard since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, the government agreed to send weapons, such as artillery shells, missiles, hand grenades and ammunition.
Furthermore, the provision of heavy weapons was also approved, but it has not been delivered yet, which coincides with a campaign of criticism against the government of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz from the opposition and the Ukrainian government. (end) anj.seo
