Kuwaiti, UN officials discuss de-listing of nat'ls from UN terrorism list

WASHINGTON, June 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Development Affairs and International Cooperation, Hamad Suleiman Al-Mishan met in New York, Thursday, with UN senior Advisor for Special Political Affairs Jeffrey DeLaurentis.
The meeting comes in the framework of the Kuwaiti efforts to left nationals' names from UN terrorism lists.
In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Mishan said "files of Kuwaiti nationals listed on terrorism list" were discussed during the meeting, the State of Kuwait supports the legitimate grievances raised by concerned citizens".
Ambassador Al-Mishan described the meeting as "fruitful and curial", praising the distinguished relationship between the two countries.
Al-Mishan participated in the meeting as the Chairman of committee on the implementation of the UNSC resolutions adopted under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
Led by the Foreign Ministry, the interagency committee includes the Interior Ministry's state security agency, the Health Ministry's psychology dept., Kuwait University's Faculty of Sharia, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and the Public Prosecution.
On Tuesday, Ambassador Al-Mishan met Ombudsperson to the UN Security Council ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee Richard Malanjum in New York. (end) ss.nhq
