RIYADH, May 25 (KUNA) -- The GCC, as an entity, will continue its road to achieve success and development to reach the aspiration of people in the region, said the organization's Secretary General Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf on Wednesday.
The statement came to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the GCC, which is celebrated on May 25 each year.
This year's celebration, said Al-Hajraf, coincided with GCC states individual plans for overall and sustainable development, which in turn would contribute to the welfare of the whole region.
Despite numerous economic, political, and security challenges, the GCC will continue to strive for a better future for its citizens and people, he added.
Al-Hajraf took the chance to remember late GCC leaders who built the foundation of the GCC, as a body focusing on achieving the welfare, security, and aspiration of the Gulf citizens.
The GCC was founded on May 25, 1981 in Abu Dhabi and consists of six nations, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. (end) mdm.gta
