Kuwaiti gymnasts win eight medals in Istanbul Int'l women tourney

ISTANBUL, May 23 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti ladies' rhythmic gymnastics team concluded its participation at the Istanbul International Championships by snatching two new medals, bringing its tally in the tournament to eight.
Gymnastics Kuwaiti Union said in a statement on Sunday that the team have won two new medals, silver and bronze.
It added that Noor Al-Rezaihan have won the second place in the hoop competition, fourth place in the scepter competition and ranked the fifth out of 14 players in the whole tournament.
Meanwhile, Lamar Al-Foudri won the third place in hoop competition, the fourth in ball competition and ranked the fifth out of 16 players in the tournament.
The head of the union Fahad Al-Soulah expressed his pride in the team's achievement despite their young age, adding that the main goal is self-development and providing opportunities to compete with other countries.
He confirmed that the Union would be keen to participate in more external tournament after a period of absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic. (end) wa.gaa
