Scores of Palestinians injured in clashes with occupation forces

RAMALLAH, May 20 (KUNA) -- Scores of Palestinians suffered injuries in clashes with the occupation Israeli forces that broke out in the West Bank on Friday following peaceful protests against the occupied settlement policies.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its teams treated nine activists who were wounded with rubber-coated bullets fired by the occupation forces in the town of Beta south of Nablus. The medical teams had also aided scores of the protestors who were injured or suffered burns when the Israeli troops attacked them with tear gas.
Palestinians in Beta and the nearby town of Bait Dejen have been holding weekly protests against Tel Aviv's scheme to build two settlements in the regions.
In Kfar Qaddoum village, a local leading activist, Murad Shtaiwi, told KUNA that four young Palestinians were wounded with bullets during the clashes that broke after the occupation forces attempted to disperse a demonstration against the settlements.
In Another village, named Msafer Yata, scores of Palestinians suffered from suffocation when the troops targeted them with tear gas. They were protesting a verdict by the supreme Israeli court to overrule a petition against evacuation of 12 villages of their Palestinian residents.
Fuad Al-Ammour, another leading activist, said that the activists organized a sit-in for the second week in a row to protest Israel's repressive measures, evacuating houses of their Palestinian residents and setting up military bases on Palestinians' lands.
Scores of Palestinians, including those who hold Israeli citizenship, took part in the sit-in, he added.
Al-Ammour said contacts were being conducted with international rights' organizations to stop Israel's measures and expropriation of Palestinians' houses, in addition to holding weekly popular activities to coerce Israel cancel its decision to seize 4,000 donums of lands and force 2,000 Palestinians out of their homes.
