France calls for genuine dialogue in Libya

PARIS, May 18 (KUNA) -- France urged Wednesday for all parties in Libya to work together and find a political solution to end ongoing violence in this north African country.
The French Foreign Ministry reiterated its call, in a statement, for "Libyan actors to engage in a genuine dialogue with a view to achieving a viable political solution", while also underlining the importance of holding transparent and impartial presidential and parliamentary elections, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the expectations of the Libyan people.
Clashes erupted in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, on Tuesday between armed groups supporting National Unity government and others backing the parliament-appointed Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha. (end) mao.aai
