MOSCOW, April 27 (KUNA) -- Russia's Gazprom energy company announced hatling gas supply to Poland and Bulgaria, over their refusal to pay in roubles.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced early April that his country will demand "unfriendly" countries to pay with roubles, in response to their freezing of Russian money in their banks, which are estimated at USD 300 billion.
Russia had set a payment mechanism with its currency for countries importing its gas, as a step to prevent western countries from freezing more Russian assets. (end)
