Arab League condemns Turkish military operation in N. Iraq

CAIRO, April 19 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Aboul Gheit condemned Tuesday the Turkish military operation launched in northern Iraq yesterday.
In a press statement, Aboul Gheit said that these attacks were rejected and denounced, describing them as a "violation" of international law.
He also called on Ankara to stop such behavior and respect the Iraqi sovereignty.
Yesterday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced the launch of a military operation bombing targets, camps and various weapon storages for separatist Kurds in northern Iraq. (end) mfm.aa
