DOHA, March 27 (KUNA) -- United States special envoy to Iran, Robert Malley, stated Sunday that he isn't confident the Iran nuclear deal is imminent, indicating that negotiations have been stalled for about a year.
Malley stated at Doha's international forum, "In any negotiations, when there's issues that remain open for so long, it tells you something about how hard it is to bridge the gap".
In relation to assurances required by Iran, the US envoy commented that finalizing the deal as soon as possible is the best guarantee, saying that the US is ready to adhere to deal terms if Iran is.
He further asserted that concluding the deal swiftly works for the better interest of both the United States and Iran.
As for removing Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from terrorist organization list, Malley responded that the nuclear deal does not relate to the IRGC, stating that sanctions will remain in place.
The US special envoy illustrated that the nuclear deal with Iran has no connection to oil market but it entirely revolves around security issues.
He affirmed that the US would continue to work with countries within the area to ease tensions and boost security within the region. (end) nnd.aai
