Biden designates Qatar as major Non-NATO ally of US

WASHINGTON, March 10 (KUNA) -- US President Joe Biden announced that, "By the authority vested in me -- and the laws of the United States --, I hereby designate the State of Qatar as a major Non-NATO Ally of the United States." The designation came in a memorandum released on Thursday by White House for Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In January, Biden promised Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani of the designation "to reflect the importance of our relationship." (end) si.gb
