Kuwait Health Min. congratulates winner of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad award

KUWAIT, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Health Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed congratulated, on Sunday, the Director of Qatar Center for Rehabilitation Dr. Hanadi Al-Hamad for winning His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's Prize for research in health care for the elderly and health promotion.
In a press statement, the Minister said that the announcement of this year winners came during the 150th session of the executive board of directors of the World Health Organization (WHO). The award was given to Dr. Al-Hamad for her accomplishments in the field of promoting the health of the elderly through directing the medical administration and leading elderly caring program , the minister said, pointing out that the prize represents one of the deep cooperative ties between the State of Kuwait and (WHO).
Dr. Al-Saeed expressed his thanks for the World Health Organization and its Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom and the facilities provided to announce the award, organizing applicants examining procedures, and meetings with the award committee.
His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Prize for research in the health care for the elderly and health promotion is announced every two years, and given to the winners who have made an outstanding contribution to research in the areas of healthcare for the elderly and health promotion at the level of World Health Organization.
The recommendations for nominating the winner is decided by the executive board, while the prize is announced in the annual ceremony held on the sidelines of (WHO) meeting in Geneva in May. (end) mrf.nhq
