Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed
KUWAIT, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- New regulations were approved by Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed for organizing medical subscriptions adhering to the highest safety international standards, in addition to the usage and registration of medical devices and products in the country, said an official Sunday.
Assistant Undersecretary for Drug and Food Control at the Ministry of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader told KUNA that the new regulations would ensure that patients seeking medicine, subscribed by doctors, could now attain products using the commercial brand or scientific term and they also have the right to know the content of the medicine and whether there were alternatives to said medication.
The latter regulation would prevent patients from obtaining the same sort of medication that would lead to further complication when seeking treatment, Dr. Al-Bader affirmed, noting that it would also solve problems with medicine supplies.
The regulation concerning medical products would focus on following the correct procedures in registering medicine according to international standards, he revealed.
He added that regulations also touched on regulating and registering medical devices used in laboratories and diagnosis were safe and up to quality. (end)
