Arab Parliament urges response to challenges - MP

AMMAN, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Member of Kuwaiti and Arab Parliament Dr. Mohammad Al-Huwailah said on Tuesday that the Arab Parliament is working according to a mechanism that aims to face the current challenges in the Arab world.
This came in a statement to KUNA after a meeting of the Parliament's Committee for Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs as part of the second session of the third legislative term hosted by the Jordanian House of Representatives in the capital, Amman.
Dr. Al-Huwailah, who chaired the meeting, stressed the importance of unifying the Arab political discourse to face the challenges and attempts trying to undermine the security of the Arab Region and its people.
The discussions between members of the committees included the challenges facing the nation in various sectors, he noted, stressing the importance of rallying around the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria due to be held in March 2022.
About the Foreign Affairs meeting, Al-Huwailah said that the meeting attended by the Head of the Parliament Adel Al-Assoomi reviewed the latest political and security developments in the Arab World, mainly in Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Sudan and Somalia.
In a similar statement, Member of Kuwaiti Parliament Khaled Al-Otaibi said that the meeting dealt with preparations for holding an Arab Forum on requirements to enhance economic integration among Arab countries and the role of the private sector in promoting intra-regional trade.
The meeting discussed an Arab law in the field of artificial intelligence, in addition to the draft axes of the report on the economic situation in the Arab world for the year 2021, Al-Otaibi noted.
The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meetings includes members Khaled Al-Otaibi, Dr. Mohammad Al-Huwailah, Dr. Abdullah Al-Turaiji, and Nasser Al-Dosari. (end) ab.nhq
