BRUSSELS, Dec 5 (KUNA) -- Thousands of people marched in Brussels Sunday to protest against measures to counter Coronavirus infections in the country and against a possible upcoming vaccine obligation.
Local media quoted police AS saying that some 8,000 people took part in the demonstration against the coronanvirus measures.
The demonstration was relatively quiet, although the police deployed the water cannon at the end and used tear gas against a group of rioters near the EU headquarters.
"We want a democratic and non-dictatorial approach to this crisis," a spokesperson for the organizers said. "The measures taken, such as the Covid Safe Ticket, are contrary to our fundamental rights. The virus is not under control, but the population is" the Brussels Times quoted the spokesman saying.
Firefighters in uniforms and nurses also participated in the march, many of whom were worried about a possible upcoming obligatory vaccination. Last Friday, for the third time in less than a month Belgian authorities announced more restrictions to cope with the upsurge in number of infections in the country. (end) nk.rk
