UN demands addressing reasons of conflict in Palestine

NEW YORK, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- The UN on Tuesday expressed concern over the latest developments on the occupied Palestinian territories.
This came during a briefing of Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wencesland at a Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
He stressed the importance of addressing the causes that fuel the conflict in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
Wencesland underlined the need to restore the political horizon that would help end the endless cycle of crisis management and return to meaningful negotiations to put an end to the Israeli occupation and resolve the conflict based on the UN resolutions, international law and previous agreements.
The Special Coordinator stated that there is continued violence in a daily basis in all parts of the occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem that led to clashes, attacks, killing of some Palestinians and the injury of some others.
He further referred to growing tensions and clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in and around the Old City of Jerusalem. (end) asf.hm
