DOHA, Nov 27 (KUNA) -- Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Forum (GAPSF) extolled Saturday Kuwait's huge efforts made to implement clear policies so as to benefit from several modern strategies in terms of dealing with the novel coronavirus.
Kuwait has taken several effective executive measures to alleviate consequences of the pandemic through cooperation and coordination amongst governmental efforts and societal initiatives, the forum said during a session themed "Kuwait's response to covid-19 and its repercussions".
Speaking in the session, Dr. Fahad Al-Fadala, divisor at Arab Planning Institute, said that Kuwait has implemented a flexible public policy to contain the pandemic and taken many effective executive measures to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
This came through cooperation, coordination and harmony between government efforts and societal initiatives, he added. The forum included another session titled "the impact of outbreak of Covid-19 and the collapse of oil prices".
Speaking in this session, Dr. Nayef Al-Shammari, Professor of Economics at Kuwait University, presented a paper on negative effects of the pandemic on the economies of the GCC countries in light of the blow they faced due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
In addition, the forum discusses GCC countries' response to the covid-19 and the impacts of the Gulf reconciliation on GCC countries' regional and international ties as well as other topics. (end) nnd.ams.hm
