UN adopts resolutions for Palestinian cause, Syria's occupied Golan

NEW YORK, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- The UN General Assembly's Special Political and Decolonization Committee late Tuesday adopted by an overwhelming majority several resolutions in favor of the Palestinian cause and the occupied Syrian Golan.
The resolution to assist Palestine refugees received 160 votes favor and against Israel and 9 abstentions. As for the resolution on the property of Palestinian refugees, it received 156 votes in favor, 6 countries opposed, and 9 other countries abstained.
Some 156 votes were in favor of the resolution of the United Nations Relief and Works for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East, while five countries opposed it and nine other countries abstained.
One of the other approved decisions was the decision related to the work of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs in the Occupied Territories, with 77 votes in favour, 17 countries against and 74 abstentions.
The resolution on Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan, received 142 votes in favor, seven against and 16 abstentions.
