DOHA, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim arrived in Doha, capital of Qatar, leading a parliamentary delegation on Tuesday on a two-day official visit.
During his stay, he is scheduled to meet Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to congratulate him on the success of the first legislative elections.
Al-Ghanim and his entourage were welcomed by Speaker of Qatari Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Deputy Speaker Hamdah Bent Hassan Al-Seleity and Secretary General of the Council Dr. Ahmad Bin Nasser Al-Fadhalah as well as Kuwait Ambassador to Qatar Hafiz Al-Ajmy.
Speakers of both legislatures are to hold talks on parliamentary cooperation and how to coordinate their stances at the regional and international parliamentary forums, including the upcoming conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), due in Madrid in late November.
The delegation includes Secretary of National Assembly Farraz Al-Daihani and observer Osama Al-Shahin as well as MPs Abdullah Al-Turaiji, Nasser Al-Dusari, Mubarak Al-Ajmy and Salman Al-Azmy.
Al-Ghanim was seen off by Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Mubarak Al-Harees, Qatar's Ambassador to Kuwait Ali Al Mahmoud and National Assembly Secretary General Adel Al-Loughati.
Kuwait's is the first parliamentary delegation to visit Qatar's Shura Council which was elected for the first time in early October. (end) nnd.gb
