WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- US President Joe Biden, on Friday, stressed the vitality of the United Nations (UN) in the international system, praising its achievements since founded in 1945.
President Biden said a statement on the UN Day, to be celebrated on October 24, "The UN is cornerstone of that international order, contributing to unmatched strides towards peace and prosperity shared around the world."
"On United Nations Day, we celebrate the achievements of this bold declaration, reaffirm the inherent humanity that unites us, and renew our commitment to building a future that advances peace, dignity, and security for all," he added.
The UN remains critical to advancing our national security and foreign policy interests, he noted.
"We are at an inflection point in history. The choices we make in the next few years -- whether or not we come together to face our greatest global challenges -- will determine our future for decades to come," he added.
Since 1945 the UN Day provides an opportunity to publicize common agenda and to affirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. (end)
