Memorial service for Colin Powell to be held Nov. 5

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- A memorial service will be held for former US secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell on November 5th at the Washington National Cathedral, it was announced Thursday evening.
A statement by Powell's spokswoman Peggy Cifrino said "there will be very limited seating and it will be by invitation only.
Powell, the first Black secretary of State, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman and national security adviser, passed away on Monday at age 84 due to complications from COVID-19.
US President Joe Biden had ordered US flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on October 22 "as a mark of respect" for Powell.
Powell had been fully vaccinated from the coronavirus but according to sources he had multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that weakens the immune system. (end) si.nhq
