Turkish Minster of Trade: trade exchange with Africa rose to USD 25.3 bln

ANKARA, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Turkish Minster of Trade Mehmet Mus announced Thursday that the trade exchange rate between Ankara and Africa has risen from USD 5.4 billion in 2003 to USD 25.3 billion in the past year.
In a press release, Mus said that the Turkish exports to Africa rose from USD one billion to USD 15 billion in 2003-20 while imports increased from USD three billion to USD 10 billion, Anadolu Agency reported.
Mus added that the total value of the Turkish investments in Africa has reached USD six billion, whereas the value of the Turkish contracting companies in Africa has reached USD 77 billion.
Mus affirms his country's keenness in developing cooperation with the continent's countries in fields of common interests, adding that the Turkish airlines travel to 58 African countries.
Mus' statements came before the start of the third Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum due today in Istanbul, to be attended by Turkish President Recep Erdogan and President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi.
Istanbul will be hosting the Turkey-Africa Cooperation Summit on 17-18 December 2021. (end) rs.ahm
