Kuwait health minister stresses COVID precautions as normal life returns

KUWAIT, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- It is imperative to retain compliance with health precautions aiming to halt the spread of COVID-19 even as normal life returns to Kuwait, the country's health minister said on Wednesday.
Keeping the lifting of restrictions in place without "going backwards" hinges on people's "awareness" and "compliance" with COVID precautions, Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah told a virtual press conference after an extraordinary cabinet meeting over the government's pandemic response.
Kuwait has fared well in the fight against COVID-19, the minister underlined, attributing the success to the efforts of the country's political leaders, in addition to the sacrifices of healthcare workers and front-liners.
Kuwait has seen a "slump" in new COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions linked to the virus, which paved the way for a return to normalcy, said the minister, adding that COVID travel procedures will remain unchanged. (Pick up previous) fn.nam
