Kuwait plays pivotal role in developing Arab media -- Officials

TUNIS, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has played a key role in promoting and developing Arab media over the recent years, mainly during its presidency of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), some Arab media people affirmed on Tuesday.
This came on the sidelines of the 21st edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival hosted by Tunisia, in the presence of Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul-Gheit.
Speaking to KUNA, head of ASBU Mohammad Al-Awash said that he took part in the session upon instructions of Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.
Kuwait, during its presidency of the union, contributed significantly and effectively to evolving Arab media, mainly training and qualifying media persons, and drawing up media and program strategies, he added.
Meanwhile, head of the Egypt's National Media Authority Hussein Zein said in a similar statement to (KUNA) that Kuwait has a major and pivotal role in promoting Arab media, adding that this was shown mainly during its presidency of the union. Kuwait hosts conferences and workshops aiming at developing Arab media, he noted.
First vice-president of ASBU Saad Al-Jrais said that the 21st session came after the Covid-19 crisis to represent a new start of Arab media.
The union has made strides and progress in the path of developing Arab media and media people, he stated.
The festival includes some activities and an honoring ceremony of the winners of media and TV competitions as well as others. (end) nma.ks.hm
