India: flood kills 35, several people missing

NEW DELHI, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- At least 35 people were killed and dozens of others were missing due to the floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain in Kerala, SAID the Indo Asian News Agency citing official sources.
The torrential rains in the last few days led to flood like situation in several districts of Kerala, causing massive landslides and water logging. Several houses, building and roads collapsed and many people were injured. Other districts in the state are also witnessing heavy downpour.
The Indian Army, air force and navy are assisting in the search and rescue operations as the police and the locals struggled to rescue people and move them to safer place. The Meteorological Department warned that there will be continuous outpouring in the state during upcoming days.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah expressed their grief in the loss of life and pledged all support to the state. (end) atk.seo
