Iraq parliament disbanding decision effective Thur.

BAGHDAD, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- An earlier decision by the Iraqi parliament to dissolve itself comes into force tomorrow (Thursday), only a couple of days ahead of early legislative elections.
"Tomorrow, the fourth parliamentary session comes to an end and people will elect their representatives on October 10 so as to usher in a fresh promising phase," Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Halbousi said in a tweet.
Over 170 members of parliament voted for the dissolution of the parliament on March 31 but provided that snap elections be held on October 10.
Iraqi political blocs agreed to conduct early elections after the government led by then Prime Minister Adel Abdelmahdi had resigned in November 2019 under mass protests in most Iraqi provinces. (end) ahh.mt
